Retiring Laboratory Equipment and Supplies

University policy mandates that all equipment purchased with University funds be either redistributed within the University or referred to Surplus Property for final disposition. This includes scientific equipment, office or laboratory furniture and scientific or clinical supplies which have not used for their intended purpose.

Please click here To learn more from Kevin Mouser about how to properly retire your unwanted laboratory equipment and supplies

Dry Nitrogen Shippers

The Department of Transportation (DOT) regulates liquid nitrogen and other cryogenic liquids as hazardous materials during transport. If you need to ship liquid nitrogen, you must have specialized training. One way to avoid this requirement is to use a dry dewar, otherwise known as a “dry shipper”

To find out more about dry shippers please read Amanda Foti's article by clicking here.

Have you Checked your Support Clips Lately?

Do you recognize the object in the photograph above? This small object is a vital part of your chemical storage cabinet. This article was published several years ago, however we are finding more of these badly corroded during our laboratory inspections so Please click here to read an article by Lee Stone about how a collapsed shelf destroyed a university research building and find steps to prevent a similar incident from occurring in your laboratory.
